About Head Over Wheels

Losing someone is never easy, especially when you hold yourself responsible. He wants to open his heart again, but he can't. So he's found another way to fill the void, ease the pain.

Her first shot at love broke her heart, not her spirit. She's determined to climb back up to the top of her class and become a detective before turning twenty-five.

Life is smooth sailing for Jewelia Delarosa, NYPD's next super cop, or so she hopes. But the twenty-one year old headstrong Latina from middle class Poughkeepsie has a lot to learn about love, and she's picked James "Indigo" Ballou to be her teacher.

The moment she sets eyes on him her world stands still, while his begins to spin. Yet, the wealthy and elusive med student has some baggage that's preventing him from surrendering his heart to the woman who has already captured his mind. Involvement with him might alter her plans and test her resolve. She should walk away. But she can't. She's made a decision to hang around and find out what he's all about. Regardless of the outcome, she'll fight to the end.

Together they fear the emotional, hunger for the physical. She doesn't trust him. He doesn't trust himself. It's one step forward, two steps back for the struggling Manhattan couple in this steamy romantic drama. Stumble along with Jewelia and Indigo as they land Head Over Wheels in an unexpected conclusion readers call ... Absolutely beautiful.

Tania Elizabeth Author of Fantasy

Fantasy by Author Tania Elizabeth

Like each and every one of us, Tania's journey has been one of trials and tribulations, of Love and of passions; and the dissolutions of it. Heartache, sorrows, smiles and laughter always seeming. Through the writing of her books and that of the divine, Tania has found a peace within and learnt the true meaning of "I LOVE ME!" Though Tania writes of fantasy, she also writes of truth. The Tier of Eternal Grace being wound within enchantment and realism. Not only does Tania Elizabeth write to give people a fantastical and ethereal story to lose themselves within, but she also writes to inspire, and in the case of The Tier of Eternal Grace . . . to have all understand the truth of the fae. That they are no different to both you and I.

THE TIER OF ETERNAL GRACE

Come thee to a place of ethereal vision Where magic and passion is bound Come thee to a place of divine insight Where love and venture be found
A fantasy wound within the truths of reality, brings forth an ardent depiction of a realm not our own. Beyond the boundary that separates the mundane and earthly planes from the divine lies Eterna Fadas, a place ruled by extraordinary beings, lithe and human-like in appearance, yet ethereal in their grace and beauty, and sensuous in nature.
Within thy pages, truths shall be revealed and secrets will be held no more. Dance within their story of magic, mystic, heart and of hurt. Their beliefs of love and gratitude their endearing charm. Their connection with Mother Earth undeniable.
They are the fae of whom we thought, but never really knew.

Checkmate by Jonathan Patrick

Checkmate
Jonathan Patrick

It’s a difficult time in America. Several years of attempted economic and social fixes have failed. Its major cities have reached a tipping point whereby any disaster, manmade or natural, would have devastating consequences. America is no longer seen by its friends or enemies as the “land of the free and the home of the brave.” Washington bureaucrats are involved in every decision and political correctness rules the day. The country that used to, only a few short years ago, project its military might outward to the world, has had its own military forces striped to the bone. No service has felt this impact more than the United States Navy. With only a fraction of combat vessels left to patrol the world’s oceans and keep peace in the world, decisions are no longer based on safety and National Security but by financial necessity. With most of its once mighty Navy staying in port, and the remainder stretched thinly across the globe, America’s enemies now have different words to describe America; weak…and very vulnerable.

jacob erin-cilberto Intersection Blues Poetry

Barnes & Noble
Water Forest Press Books

Intersection Blues
By  jacob erin-cilberto

With each successive collection of poems, it becomes increasingly clear that we have a poetic genius in our midst.  In this latest collection, jacob erin-cilberto tests the limits of creativity, and the result is nothing short of astounding, authentic, fresh poetry.  He gives us haiku,  senryu, free verse and acrostics all with equal expertise and skill.

In the title poem, he tells us he is “a poet stopped at a red light”, but we  come to realize, as we read all the poems here, that he is merely at a crossroads of sorts, and getting his bearings with keen observation, as he continues on his travels.

“The Composition of You” is a remarkably beautiful and sentimental poem in which the speaker paints a vivid image of the object of his affection for the reader, so we see the beauty through his eyes.  One is reminded of Mona Lisa’s enigmatic smile and gaze when the poet says:

i see under the layers
a posing of sadness
reaching the surface in some code of suppressed memory
everything seems to mean something else

Just as it is with DaVinci’s famous portrait, so it is with erin-cilberto’s poem.  With each reading, we see another layer, another degree of complexity, and are drawn in by the beauty of the words and we see it is a thing “to be held, to be appreciated” and “not to be hung senselessly on a wall for show”.

The series of 5 poems,  “Run Ons – Splice” (1 through 5) is playful and imaginative, with the poet creating meaning through structure.  They are like “pieces of [him] with no title”, so we don’t need titles….we are allowed glimpses of his innermost feelings.

“anonymously unbecoming of e.e. cummings and not really Creely” is one of the most unique and intriguing poems in the book.  It is at once whimsical and reverent, paying homage to all of the greats.  The poet claims he will:

“never go toe to toe with Poe
nor match wits with Whitman
keep the beat like Keats
or write long and mellow
like Longfellow”

As you read on, it becomes clear that the poet might be measuring himself against the greats; yet, he does so much more than “skirt the rim of some of them”.  He proves that he is worthy to be counted among them.
I marvel at his economy of words, and nowhere is it more evident than in his “six-word poems”.  There is a saying that “brevity is the soul of wit”, and so it is here.  He says so much with so few words.

For example, “In Retrospect…a six word very short story” :

“I am, you are, we weren’t”

This simple phrase speaks volumes.  It defines why relationships don’t work and I would imagine that there aren’t many readers who cannot relate to this in some way.

Yet another example of his concise use of language can be found in “Fancy Meeting You Here” :

“…because fate
accidentally
intervenes
on purpose”

There is such basic truth in this paradox.  It eloquently reminds us of the idea that sometimes, people coming into our lives seems to be nothing short of serendipitous.

But my favorite poem has to be “Neglected Returns”.  I’ve read a lot of jacob’s poetry, and I never cease to be amazed at this incredibly gifted poet.  He would balk at being called a poetic genius, preferring to see himself as a mere “conduit” of the words.

“again
never happens before first times
and the last chance to get it right
is the first time we get it wrong”

This poet uses such simple and elegant words to convey such complexity of thought.  His poetry is as humble as he is.  This is pure jacob.  How fortunate for us that he has stopped at this “intersection” to pause and share his gift with us.

Darlene by David Russell

Darlene
by
David Russell

Contemporary Romance & Literary Erotica

Darlene was Released on July 15, 2013

The hero, Percival arranges a date through a contact mag. He and Darlene have a rapturous scenario, handled with superb finesse and supreme command of the wardrobe. He finds some hints of her complicated past. Before and after the encounter, he is eyed up and accosted by malicious-seeming men. The sense of an underlying hornet’s nest is scary, and immediately detracts from the euphoria, which does finally prevail.

Excerpt

I envisaged Darlene dressing before her mirror, adoring her own image, caressing her thighs as she drew up her stockings, loving her own image in the mirror, savouring her own fully charged magnetism. I imagined delicious dressing in preparation for delicious undressing – perhaps some feeling in her bones that I might be someone out of the ordinary, or even an additional bonus of doing it with another woman before my eyes.

I, in turn, practiced disrobing in front of my mirror, in subdued light, capturing all the alluring angles, savouring myself under the dream spell of her implicit eyes. I sensed the bleeps of telepathy in operation between us—laser-beamed gazes and breaths of rapture.

I spiced my sensations with my favourite videos. Katy Perry’s Thinking of You and Teenage Dream came to the fore, those graceful balletic of revelation, pulling on the stockings, pulling off the jeans, my hands all over that lithe, tanned form. I washed, ironed, and immersed myself into putting on and taking off all the items in my wardrobe. I even had some limbering up chats on the phone – some alluring voices there, even more magical for their anonymity and their covert location. Those blind rehearsals sharpened the visual and tactile imagination. Some aspects suit complete darkness, others suit subdued light. Maybe at some point, there will be a home video, capturing idyllic trysts indoors and outdoors, two lovers willing themselves into dream perfection…great art is often a substitute or reminder for experience. How much more fulfilling when it is an accompaniment or a backdrop.

This review is from: Wheel Wolf (Werewolf Horror) (Kindle Edition)
This book is one emotional ride...and I mean that literally. Victoria has written one HELL of an suspense filled and heart wrenching thriller. This story is fast paced and hair-raising. There are twists and turns you are not going to see coming. There is one twist, if you are anything like me, you are going to scream and have a fit and yell, "YOU DID NOT DO THAT!" You are captured by this story right out of the gate. You are drawn into the characters and their feelings immediately. You feel the undying love between Jack and Jenny. The heartbreak, anger, and anguish Jack feels after each adverse life altering experience he encounters. You also feel Jenny's emotions she experiences. Her unconditional love for Jack, the love she feels for for her parents, and paralyzing terror she feels during an incident that no one should have to endure, especially alone. The characters are well written and in-depth detailed including the secondary characters. I smiled, cried...keep Kleenex handy, laughed, and had the sh*t scared out of me.

Blurb:
Beneath a full, blood moon, on the way home from his girlfriend's house, Jack Bailey encounters something terrifying at Phantom Lake. Fleeing the unknown, he dumps his bike and is found unconscious, his body tangled with a naked girl. Jack struggles to regain memory and the use of his legs, while fighting a sudden urge for raw meat and to bay at the moon. Wheel Wolf is a story of unconditional love that lives beyond the grave, and a relentless fight for retribution. An Amazon bestseller in Werewolves/Shifters/Horror/Suspense.

E-book teaser:
E-book teaser:

He had to get her out of there, but with all the drugs in her system, would she even remember who he was?

Mercy was lying on the bed. Even in the dim light, he could tell she was pale. Her clothes were wrinkled and her shirt caked with what they forced her to eat. From the looks of the room she fought hard. Damn, he needed to get her out before the drugs took her from him.
“Mercy, wake up. Come on, open your eyes.” Nothing. She didn’t move. Okay, she’s not going to like this. “You need to wake up and take a shower, so let’s get both done at the same time.”
He took the chair into the shower and turned it on then went back to the bed. He picked up Mercy, and placed her under the fine mist of cold water. Just what she needed. He held her in the chair as the water flowed over her head, soaking her hair and drizzling down her shoulders. His back was pelted by the spray as he knelt in front of her, but he didn’t care. He shook her shoulders, and she stirred.
“Good, Mercy. Come on, open your eyes.” He struggled to hold her slippery, wet body in the chair. The T-shirt was soaked and her thin bra could not hide the effects of the cold water. He clenched his jaw tight at the thought of never being able to touch her, love her. She has to remember him, remember them. She struggled against his hold as she started to wake. “I’m not letting you up until you open your eyes. Come on, look at me.”
Her eyes flew open. They were filled will fear and confusion as she frantically searched the room. Then her head dropped and their eyes met and he knew.

Excerpt:

A
n explosion ricocheted behind Jason Michael’s eyes as the pressure mounted in his head. The rush of panic consumed him. He struggled to move, tried to swallow, but nothing. His throat burned as the flames engulfed his lungs. He needed to breathe but couldn’t. Shit. He strained to make out the muffled voice, but the pounding in his ears erased all hope. His head started to spin and he succumbed to the realization, this was it, the end. He won. The flames dampened and his heartbeat slowed as the drums subsided, then the voice became clear.
“Give it to him now you son of a bitch. What were you thinking? We still need him.”
In a split second, Jason sucked in a breath, causing stabbing pains to shoot through his chest. Every muscle fiber burned as the cold blast of air shot through his lungs releasing the oxygen his body craved. He arched his back, raising his chest up to pull in more air when his head snapped to the side and the crack from his neck echoed in his ears. The pain ripped through his jaw, racing across his cheekbone. Before he could gather his senses, intense burning set his face on fire. What the hell?
The slap against his cheek stung, and his eyes snapped open. He wrenched upright, hitting his head on the roof of the SUV. His gaze darted back and forth looking for something familiar until he locked onto the ice-cold stare of the devil himself, Shaun Flanagan.
Damn, that was close. Jason could not blow his cover, even if it meant he would die as David Logan and not Jason Michaels.
“You’re finally awake, my boy. We almost lost you,” Shaun cold, emotionless laugh caused Jason’s blood to boil. “You stopped breathing, I think. It’s hard to tell with this new stuff. I hope you’re not too injured. We’ve got work to do.”
Jason’s vision blurred, but his other senses were sharp. Shaun had known exactly what the drug would do and the burn in Jason’s throat was a harsh reminder. Shaun’s sarcastic tone spoke volumes to him. He was evil and did not play by anyone’s rules but his own. Jason had spent the last two months undercover, playing their games and doing their dirty work to buddy up tight to this family. He’d earned his spot with Thomas Flanagan, but his son Shaun had issues trusting anyone, even his own father.
Jason’s anger burned inside of him, but he couldn’t afford to make mistakes, not now. He was too close. It’s time to step it up, but first the drugs had to stop. He rubbed his aching jaw with one hand, clenching his other into a fist to hide his visible shaking. He had to get control of this game before he lost everything.
